My work is in essence a continuous journey exploring movement, colour and rhythmic energy in a manner which is abstract in nature. My inspiration comes from the natural world and its evolutionary traits. I work across several disciplines engaging in my interests and allowing it to happen in a carefree fashion. Natural world, colour, space and form are the interests that I pursue in my practice.
When painting I allow the consistency of the paint to affect the mark making of my canvas through my pallet knife and paint brush. Creating a painting is also like sculpting a piece for me. I use different mediums to get substance into my work making them textural and tactile.
Initially when creating a piece I try to start a conversation with it and then get this conversation going throughout the process of making it. This conversation is important as it conveys ideas and thought processes that is vital to creating my artwork. I intend a relationship with my artwork and the viewer with action, expression and emotional reaction. I also believe that spatial quality between the artwork and the viewer matters and try to convey this through a combination of practices in painting, printmaking and installation art.
